If you are converting a computer from a KMS host, MAK, or retail edition of Windows to a KMS client, install the applicable setup key (GVLK) from Table below using slmgr /ipk. The KMS allows automated activation of Microsoft products for organizations within their own network, eliminating the need for individual computers to connect to Microsoft for product activation. In volume installations, the setup key is installed by default, which makes the system a KMS client. 1.) Uninstall the current product by entering the uninstall product key extension: slmgr.vbs /upk: 2.) Install the key that you obtained above for Windows Srv 2012R2 DataCtr/Std KMS for Windows 10 slmgr.vbs /ipk <25-digit-key-goes-here> 3.) Verify that the key took by executing a Detailed License View: slmgr.vbs /dlv: 4. A Microsoft Key Management Server (KMS) is a legitimate service offered under Microsoft Volume Activation 2.0 solution which is used to activate volume licensed Microsoft products.By default, the Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems use KMS for activation.
